Matt Loch is one step closer to back-to-back Country Cups and Warrnambool Cups after a strong best of the night heat performance tonight.
He worked hard from box seven, with pressure from the little speed demon in Sharapova Star on his outside.
Sharapova Star’s efforts earnt her a rug in the Warrnambool Cup running the fastest second of the series.
Vincent Bale showed his determination and talent, pushing through to win his heat with ease in a time of 24.731 seconds making him the second fastest qualifier.
We also saw the return of Sunset Frazier and Inconspicuous who both won their heats following lengthy spells on the sidelines.
Anthony Azzopardi’s Inconspicuous was the third fastest qualifier into the Cup and showed no signs of worries with an all way the victory after three months away from the track.
Jake Loverso had a night to remember, winning the opening heat with Beach Bourbski, whilst celebrating his second connection in Warrnambool Cup through Sharapova Star, a greyhound in which he bred.
Zipping Gryllis won his Warrnambool Cup heat for Brooke Ennis like he has done many Country Cup heats before. Jumping, leading and winning.
Packham Prince provided trainers Emma and Lochie Scott with indescribable joy when winning his heat, providing the team with their first Country Cup runner.
The Scott’s were just shy a second Warrnambool Cup contender with Trefusis running second to Vincent Bale and Ashton also finishing second to Zipping Gryllis.
