Team Daily dominated the opening week of the Launching Pad series last night at Sandown Park, winning three out of the eight heats.
Wyong Dallas was the standout, stopping the clock in a personal best 29.28 seconds earning him the title of fastest qualifier.
Wyong Dallas (6) wins Launching Pad Heat four. Dongalla Jessie (4) finished second and Lambrick Road (3) third.
A 29.28 second performance is no shock to Team Dailly who have had an opinion of the dog since the education process.
“He had been trialing some of the quickest times around home we have ever had,” Trainer Tom Dailly said at the start of Dallas’ career.
Breeder and owner George Daily was impressed with Wyong Dallas’ strength in his heat win last night.
“We held him back for the series because we know he has got ability but can be a little weak over 500 but he wasn’t last night,” George Dailly said.
Wyong Dallas has drawn box four in the opening semi final of the Launching Pad which will be run on Thursday night at Sandown Park.
Team Dailly also advanced Kiwi Harry through to the second week of the Launching Pad, claiming the opening heat in outstanding fashion at juicy odds of $17.
Kiwi Harry is a son of Fernando Bale and Lala Kiwi. He stopped the clock in 29.55 seconds (5.24 early).
Kiwi Harry (6) wins the opening Launching Pad heat over Elite Intention (1) and Valenzuela (2).
Kiwi Harry was one of the most experienced chasers heading into the Launching Pad series with 22 starts for four wins in his career so far.
“He is getting better with experience but isn’t that great early,” Dailly said.
“He got the perfect run last night and I doubt that will happen in the semis next week.”
When purchasing tickets for the Launching Pad, Team Dailly put in a vote as to which greyhounds they should purchase tickets for. Co-trainer Andea Dailly was the only one to vote in Kiwi Harry.
Kiwi Harry has drawn box two in the second Launching Pad semi final.
Shima Stan makes up contender three for Team Dailly in week two of the Launching Pad after leading all the way in his heat with a time of 29.47 seconds (5.11 early).
Shima Stan (8) defeats Texas President (6) and Hot Nanu (7) in Launching Pad heat three.
Shima Stan has drawn box eight in semi final four of the Launching Pad, the same box he claimed victory in the heats.
“He was a really nice run and came out really well which he hasn’t been doing,” Dailly said.
“We are going into next week with Wyong Dallas and Shima Stan our best chances.”
Gambella, who has been one of the favourites heading into the Launching Pad series was nothing short of remarkable when winning her heat.
Trained by Anthony Azzopardi, Gambella jumped from box eight and worked hard from midfield around the outside to run over the top of Aston Rayner.
Gambella has drawn box six in the third Launching Pad semi final.
Other heat winners include Bepop Jaz, Irish Bill, Dashing Slay and Chicken Fish.
The first four place getters advance through to the Launching Pad semi finals next Thursday night, plus the remaining greyhounds who competed in the heats are eligible to compete in the consolation series called the Runway.
