Troy Harley - dogs, horses and media

Troy Harley, our Bendigo Club Manager, was born and raised in Maitland, in the Hunter Valley of NSW.

His love for the racing industry started in high school, working at race meetings in all three codes. When it was time to leave school, Troy continued his passion for racing, taking a job at the Newcastle Jockey Club. He’s since held various positions in greyhound and thoroughbred organisations in NSW before seeing the greener pastures and moving to Victoria 10 years ago.

Troy spent a year as the club Manager at Warragul, followed by a dual role as Manager at Bendigo and Shepparton for two years, followed by another dual role as manager Bendigo and GRV’s club projects and operations co-ordinator before focusing solely on the Bendigo role.

He’s never been shy for the media, holding various roles including stints on ‘The Catching Pen’, as well as hosting radio sports shows, thoroughbred and greyhound hosting and form analysis for Sky. Troy also contributes racing stories for various print and online media outlets and recently hosted, directed, and produced the very successful online 2020 COVID Bendigo Cup.  Another passion is Greyhound Clubs Victoria (GCV) where he currently sits on the executive and makes valuable contributions as well as Greyhound Clubs Australia as a GCV delegate and member of several national sub-commmittees.

Troy has worked with dogs and horses from a young age and currently has a property just out of Bendigo where he breeds, rears, pre-trains and trains dogs with his very patient wife Belinda and two girls Kaylene and Jessica.
