Shepparton Cup heats a Monday treat

After getting another working week underway punters are treated to CKH Painting Shepparton Cup heats tonight.

With five heats, the winners and three fastest runner-ups will progress to next Saturday night’s final.

Despite just five heats there is no shortage of quality.

HEAT 1
Mile A Minute is first up since a superb runner-up performance behind Serial Sticker in Healesville’s Emerald. He meets an old acquaintance in Boracay Storm – the pair ran one-two in the Bendigo Cup last October.

HEAT 2
Fan favourite Tim Zoo has come up with the coveted inside alley – it’ll be his first start since he was scratched from the Horsham Cup due to a minor webbing injury. Emerald winner Serial Sticker aims to take his straight track form back to the horseshoe.

HEAT 3
Lakeview Emily had her hat-trick of wins halted on Sandown Park on Thursday but was still good in defeat – the fastest run home of the night. She’s the clear headliner in this heat.

HEAT 4
Horsham Cup winner Flying Zulu is back for more country cup success with an aim to edge closer to breaking $1M in earnings. New South Wales sprinter Nad Al Sheba is a threat. Much will be made of Sheezel drawing box 1 with his urge to shift wide on the track.

HEAT 5
A name we’ve missed and thrilled to see back in the guide, In The Hub! He returned to racing at Sale recently with good success and has drawn favourably here in box 7. Country Cup regular Matt Loch needs to recapture his bursting speed.

I’ll be covering all the action on Sky Racing and trialing something new for the punters out there in the pubs and club watching Sky not listening. We will have a handful of one-liners on key runners for the heats to visually catch the attention of viewers. All feedback welcome – [email protected]

CATCH UP ON RSN’S GREY AREAS

Jason Adams and George Farrugia run through their first thoughts of the five Shepparton Cup heats. It’s not all serious business on Grey Areas, on Friday’s show, the gents spoke a bit about the great man George Farrugia’s backyard set up where he watches the footy.
